Our Soft Tissue Modalities:

Electrical Muscle Stimulation

This therapy is not only relaxing and enjoyable, it assists the body's healing process by flushing inflammation-causing chemicals and other toxins from the muscles, thereby reducing inflammation, relaxing tight muscles and providing pain relief for both acute and chronic conditions.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound creates heat within the soft tissues of the body through high frequency sound waves which can penetrate below the skin's surface much more deeply than other topical heat applications. The result is an increase in circulation to the affected area, a reduction in muscle tension and decreased pain and swelling.

Iontophoresis/Phonophoresis

This treatment delivers pain relief or anti-inflammatory medications transdermally through the use of an iontophoresis patch or with ultrasound treatment. Some medications used with these treatments require a doctor's prescription.

Custom Foot Orthotics

They are not just for the feet! Custom-made Spinal Pelvic Stabilizers made by Foot Levelers, were designed by a chiropractor to treat the body as a functional unit, starting with the feet. They support all three arches in each foot and can help to properly support the back, knees, hips, ankles and pelvis by providing a balanced foundation for the body.

Chiropractic Wellness Visits

These periodic adjustments are designed to keep your spine in alignment in an effort to prevent pain and injury as opposed to treatments that are designed to improve a clinical condition.

Dr. Bissell Asks some important questions of interest to Santa Barbara residents - Chiropractor Santa Barbara Dr. Bissell Asks...

Where do most Santa Barbara residents get their first subluxation?
Being born in a hospital is a common source of subluxation. Trauma from forceps delivery has been replaced with drugs, vacuum extraction, Cesarean section and births that are "scheduled" to fit the workweek routines of Ob-Gyns. That's why we recommend a chiropractic checkup for every Santa Barbara newborn.
What's the difference between a "good" drug and a "bad" drug?
As a chiropractor, I see the use of many drugs (legal or illegal) as merely symptom treating. Worse, virtually every drug produces unwanted effects. The effects of chiropractic are largely positive effects. If you're a Santa Barbara parent, consider carefully before giving your child a cough medication, cold remedy or pain reliever so this sort of question doesn't arise in the first place.
